Delphi SQL Explorer is a legacy database utility from Borland Corporation, bundled with Delphi and C++Builder during the 1990s and early 2000s. Built on the Borland Database Engine (BDE), it lets developers connect to supported databases—ranging from desktop formats like Paradox and dBASE to client/server systems such as Oracle, InterBase, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase, Informix, and others via BDE drivers. The tool provides a tree-based view of database objects and an interactive SQL window, making it useful for exploring schemas, validating queries, and troubleshooting connectivity during RAD development with Borland tools. Because the BDE is deprecated, SQL Explorer is considered a legacy utility and typically requires an older Windows environment.

Key capabilities:

  • Browse database schemas: tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, triggers, and other metadata (as supported by the target DBMS and driver).
  • Run ad hoc SQL statements and review results for quick testing.
  • Connect through configured BDE aliases for a consistent development workflow.
  • Companion utility to Borland’s Database Desktop and BDE Administrator.

Note: Feature availability varies by database and BDE driver.

Delphi SQL Explorer is developed by Borland Corporation. The most popular version of this product among our users is 7.0. The name of the program executable file is dbexplor.exe.
